The UK’s energy regulator Ofgem has announced that it will make changes to the Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) to streamline the process of gaining funding.
Energy regulator Ofgem has approved up to £95.3 million in funding that will go to ten projects focusing on clean heat, zero emission transport, data and digitalisation and whole system integration.
A total of eight research and development projects led by the National Grid have been collectively awarded £896,000 during the ‘discovery phase’ of Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) programme.
Following investment from Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF), UK Power Networks is set to launch a “major series of innovation projects” to help the UK achieve a “Silicon Valley of energy.”
National Grid is using satellite imagery to boost the resilience of the grid, as part of a new project that could save £22 million over the next decade.
