The MCS Charitable Foundation has signalled in a new report that by increasing the promotion of green apprenticeships to Gen Z, the UK could reach its net zero target.
MCS has announced that the UK’s first ever heat pump installer apprenticeship will receive government funding to train 57,000 heat pump installers by the end of the decade.
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) is partnering with E.ON to deliver a 15-year energy efficiency programme that includes a geothermal heating and cooling system.
With the UK government target of installing 600,000 heat pumps a year by 2028 fast approaching, the heat pump industry is aiming to fill skills shortages with a new apprenticeship which could be ready to start later this year.
“The UK Government needs to utilise the tools at their disposal to increase investment in green homes and incentivise decarbonisation,” said Sarah Hunter, non-executive director of public policy at the Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA).
