Electrification of Heat Demonstration Project

British Gas has launched its Warm Home Promise to address misgivings over domestic heat pump installations.

Interim performance data released as part of the Electrification of Heat Demonstration Project (EoH), has shown that air source heat pumps (ASHPs) operate with high efficiency even in cold weather conditions, making the technology "a viable domestic retrofit solution three times more efficient than gas boilers."

The ‘Electrification of Heat’ Demonstration Project has found disruption to households during heat pump installation to be the main barrier to a mass rollout in the UK, and has called for sector innovation to facilitate a solution.
