In the latest installment of our series on community energy in the UK, we look at the work of Community Energy London and one of their member groups, SE24, who are working hard to decarbonise the capital's electricity supply.

With the success of our article giving an overview of the community energy sector, we have decided to devote a series of features to the community energy sector in the UK. The sector was recently described to me by one community energy group as a ‘coiled spring’, full of passionate people with lots of experience of developing projects, which just needs the right support to really take off. So what are the obstacles currently impeding this potential growth?

This week’s UK Solar Summit has been celebrating community energy projects, with a panel titled ‘How is the Community Energy Sector in the UK Growing?’ The sector may still be small in comparison to the commercial solar industry, but the potential is great, and the industry can play an important part in helping bring the energy transition into people’s daily lives.
